|
|
I have been playtesting the 1/15 format a lot lately, not using the custom expansions. I made a similar post over in the corp forum. These are the two strongest runner decks I've found:
TagMe
2 Militech MRAM Chip {NR-BASESET}
1 Full Body Conversion {NR-BASESET}
3 Drone for a Day {NR-PROTEUS}
1 Mantis, Fixer-at-Large {NR-BASESET}
3 Jack 'n' Joe {NR-BASESET}
3 Cruising for Netwatch {NR-PROTEUS}
2 MIT West Tier {NR-BASESET}
3 Score! {NR-BASESET}
3 Bodyweight Synthetic Blood {NR-BASESET}
3 Organ Donor {NR-BASESET}
3 Stakeout {NR-PROTEUS}
3 Identity Donor {NR-PROTEUS}
3 Panzer Run {NR-CLASSIC}
3 Edited Shipping Manifests {NR-BASESET}
1 Remote Detonator {NR-PROTEUS}
1 Shredder Uplink Protocol {NR-BASESET}
2 Self-Modifying Code {NR-BASESET}
1 Succubus {NR-BASESET}
1 Skeleton Passkeys {NR-PROTEUS}
1 MS-todon {NR-CLASSIC}
1 Hammer {NR-BASESET}
1 Scaldan {NR-PROTEUS}
It's basically a Scaldan deck. Some of the other versions I've seen of this deck use the Bartmoss/Joan combo but I've found the breakers above to be about the same in overall cost and often cheaper for big ice, and they're obviously more stable than Bartmoss. I didn't invent this deck (or the one below) but I have optimized it as best as I can given the results of my playtesting and the restrictions of the 1/15 format. Scaldan is a total bitch to deal with as the corp.
"Purity Control"
1 WuTech Mem Chip {NR-BASESET}
1 MRAM Chip {NR-BASESET}
1 Bodyweight Data Creche {NR-BASESET}
2 Efficiency Experts {NR-BASESET}
3 Bodyweight Synthetic Blood {NR-BASESET}
1 Mantis, Fixer-at-Large {NR-BASESET}
3 Cruising for Netwatch {NR-PROTEUS}
3 Jack 'n' Joe {NR-BASESET}
3 Organ Donor {NR-BASESET}
1 MIT West Tier {NR-BASESET}
3 Stakeout {NR-PROTEUS}
3 Score! {NR-BASESET}
2 misc.for-sale {NR-BASESET}
3 Panzer Run {NR-CLASSIC}
1 Remote Detonator {NR-PROTEUS}
1 Emergency Self-Construct {NR-BASESET}
1 Microtech AI Interface {NR-BASESET}
1 Skeleton Passkeys {NR-PROTEUS}
1 Matador {NR-CLASSIC}
1 Jackhammer {NR-BASESET}
1 Highlighter {NR-PROTEUS}
1 Danshi's Second ID {NR-BASESET}
3 Top Runners' Conference {NR-BASESET}
1 Elena Laskova {NR-CLASSIC}
1 Crash Everett, Inventive Fixer {NR-BASESET}
2 Liberated Savings Account {NR-PROTEUS}
It's a Big Dig deck. This deck does amazingly well and still feels like it has room to be optimized further. Elena or Crash turns the simple cantrips (Cruising and Stakeout) into powerful effects and both in play at once makes you mow through the deck while simultaneously amassing bits. The Remote/Danshi combo is still being tested but seems necessary against any deck that stacks ice on R&D and/or plays with Superserum. You typically have enough bits when you "go off" to end the game in one or two turns. But sometimes the situation calls for you to run sooner than you'd like, and your bit pool will run dry before you've dug enough cards. That's when you should pull out the Remote/Danshi combo. The ESC is strictly against corp decks that use lots of Traps and Setup type cards. If the corp isn't playing them, you can ignore the ESC as well as the WuTech mem chip. The hardest thing for this deck to deal with is when the corp plays directly against the weakness of Top Runner's Conference - and advances agendas with little or no protection. You need to make the call of whether or not to run during these situations. It's fun and the deck's power helps, because if you choose right you definitely win. If you choose wrong, you'll still probably win but it will be closer
These two decks are extremely powerful but the corp deck I posted over in that forum beats both of them - if played correctly. Well, the TagMe hate doesn't really take skill to use, but playing correctly against the dig deck does take skill.
These are the best runner decks I've found. I have lots of other decks, of various varieties and archtypes, but these two out-performs them all.

Your second deck has no base links at all. This is a recipe for disaster. _________________ "I'll never do that again!"

Other than the first turn, the deck doesn't run at all until it's ready to win. It will break all ice sub routines. Getting tagged at that point doesn't matter because you'll have the ESC in play to prevent meat damage decks. And you won't need resources anymore - in fact you'll probably have sold them all to Misc anyhow.
In general, I've never found base links to be very effective or reliable. Ice effects that trace are usually better to just break, than to play the trace/link game. And the corp has other non-trace ways to give tags. Nasuko Cycle is better for almost all decks, in my opinion. |

So why did you include Danshi's Second ID? _________________ "I'll never do that again!"

It combos with remote detonator, but you're right that its probably unneeded. By the time the deck uses it, it doesn't really care about tags anymore...
I will drop it from the list and test. Thanks for the tip! |

It's hard to find a situation where Danshi's Second ID is better than Total Genetic Retrofit. You buy an action for 3 bits. _________________ "I'll never do that again!"

I really think this deck suxx...
Really too slow, the draw engine and the beat gainin' engine are good, but if don't make a run between turns 2 and 6/7 you'll never win against prepared decks. |

I just compared this to "Da big truck" (1998) which is the other HQ attack deck in 1/15 format that is in my collection.
Speed is always an issue; balancing of draw and bit engine against one another could be done differently in this deck. Focusing a deck to a minimal set helps to improve it later on. I recommend to include a base link card.
Have you had any play experience with it yet? That is what actually matters. _________________ If you don't fear death, they're great to hang with. |
